Atascadero police say someone tried to steal an ATM from Pacific Premier Bank.

It happened at about 10:30 p.m. Monday at the bank located in the 7400 block of El Camino Real.

Police say the thief or thieves used a backhoe to partially remove the ATM, which was left in the parking lot. They also left behind the backhoe and a truck and trailer that had been reported stolen out of Paso Robles earlier in the evening.

Police ask anyone with information about this crime to call Sgt. Jeff Wilshusen at (805) 470-5035.

Police said no additional information would be released at this time because of the ongoing investigation.
