UPDATE: Atascadero Police posted on Facebook at 3:42 p.m. stating that the fire is fully contained.
Firefighters are battling a brush fire in Atascadero.

The Atascadero fire department says the fire is near Highway 41 and San Gabriel on San Marcos Road.
According to the CHP’s traffic information page, the fire is spreading.
Residents are advised to avoid the area.
