UPDATE: Man suffers medical emergency, crashes into Santa Margarita Lake

UPDATE (4:15 p.m.) – The California Highway Patrol says a 54-year-old man from Creston suffered a medical emergency and drove into Santa Margarita Lake Monday morning.

Officers say the man’s vehicle was underwater for about ten seconds before he was able to get out. He was helped back to shore by someone who had a boat nearby.

The CHP says the man’s low blood pressure was determined to be a factor in the crash and that he suffered a cut on his finger as he was getting out of his vehicle.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene and released.


 

UPDATE (9:30 a.m.) – CAL FIRE SLO canceled their response,

They say the incident was a non-injury crash.


 

(9:16 a.m.) – CAL FIRE SLO responded to reports of a vehicle in Santa Margarita Lake Monday Morning.

Reports of the incident came in at around 9 a.m.

Firefighters are currently on scene and little details have been provided.

Officials say they are unsure if the vehicle has any occupants at this time.
