The League of Women Voters in San Luis Obispo commemorated the centennial anniversary of Congress passing the 19th Amendment Tuesday.
The volunteer organization celebrated the day Congress signed the amendment to send it off for ratification.
The committee recognized the legislation’s significance by hosting a reception for the county’s current elected female officials before reading of a proclamation by the SLO County Board of Supervisors.
The League of Women Voters was founded in February of 1920. The 19th Amendment was officially enacted in August 1920.
