18 police recruits graduated today from Allan Hancock College’s Law Enforcement Training Academy.
After 850 hours of instruction, each student of the 117th graduating class successfully completed the rigorous 21-week California Peace Officer Standards and Training.
The training included training in community policing, ethics and investigative procedures.
College trustee Daniel Hilker delivered the graduation’s keynote address at Hancock’s Public Safety Training Complex in Lompoc. Hilker is a retired UCSB police officer and a former graduate of Hancock’s Law Enforcement Training Academy.
All 18 academy graduates have been hired by law enforcement agencies across the Central Coast.
