UPDATE (2 p.m.) – CHP reported Highway 41 was back open by 2 p.m. Three people were injured and taken to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
UPDATE (1:27 p.m.) – Highway 41 was closed between Calle La Palta on the west side and Los Altos Rd. on the east side. The closure was expected to last for about an hour.

(1:02 p.m.) – Emergency crews responded to a head-on crash Monday on Highway 41 between Morro Bay and Atascadero.
It happened just after 12:30 p.m. near Cerro Alto Rd.
The highway was blocked as a result of the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol, and was expected to be closed for approximately one hour.
Two vehicles were involved but the extent of injuries was not immediately known.
