Libraries across San Luis Obispo County are celebrating the kick-off for the summer lunch program with a free barbecue Tuesday.
The Morro Bay Library honored the launch of this year’s initiative by hosting the event, complete with live music and a children’s farmer’s market.
Families gathered for the free meal while learning about the opportunities available to the community now that school is out for the summer.
Starting Tuesday, the Nipomo, San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay libraries will hand out the free meals on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Each of the libraries will be providing lunch during the times listed below:
- Nipomo Library, 12:00 – 12:45 p.m.
- San Luis Obispo Library, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Morro Bay Library, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
Lunch at the Library is put on by the California Library Association to provide children 18 years and younger with free lunches throughout the summer months.
There is no registration necessary for the program. Lunches are given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
