Hwy 101 slows as visitors arrive for Cal Poly graduation ceremonies

Posted

People are pouring into San Luis Obispo ahead of Cal Poly commencement ceremonies.

Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo County was packed by late Friday afternoon as visitors arrive for graduation weekend.

The university says more than 40,000 people are expected to be in town. Two ceremonies are set for Saturday and Sunday at 5 p.m. and more than 5,100 students are eligible to graduate.

The two, three-hour-long evening ceremonies are a change for graduation this year in an effort for visitors to beat the heat.
