The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a teenage girl who may have fallen off the Pismo Beach Pier.

The Coast Guard says a caller saw what appeared to be a teenage girl sitting on a railing on the pier with other kids nearby. She then heard a splash and called 911 shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

The caller said she did not witness the girl falling into the water but heard the splash below where the girl had been sitting, officials say. The teen was possibly wearing a pink or purple shirt with white pants.

The search began in the air and on the water but was suspended at about 7:15 a.m. after no one was found.

The Coast Guard says no one has reported anyone missing who matches the description of the girl who may have fallen.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, CAL FIRE, Pismo Beach police and lifeguards, and a California Highway Patrol helicopter also assisted with the search.
