The California Highway Patrol says a woman who crashed head-on into another vehicle Monday on Linne Rd. in Paso Robles was distracted while rolling down her window.
The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. just east of Hanson Rd.
Officers say the 18-year-old was driving westbound when she allowed her vehicle to drift into the opposite lane. A man driving eastbound tried to avoid a collision by turning his vehicle left into the westbound lane, but at about the same time, the woman realized she was driving in the wrong lane and turned back to the right and the two vehicles crashed head-on.
The woman’s vehicle went off the road, into a wire fence and overturned. The man’s vehicle remained in the roadway, but he was trapped inside and first responders had to use the Jaws of Life to free him.
The CHP says the man suffered a broken leg and cuts on his head and chin. The woman reportedly suffered moderate abrasions. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment.
