The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man killed in a crash Saturday morning on Highway 101 near Buellton as Pietro Buompensiero, 79, of Templeton.
The California Highway Patrol says Buompensiero’s truck and a KIA were both heading southbound on the highway when, for unknown reasons, they collided around 5 a.m. near the Avenue of the Flags exit.
The driver of the KIA, which rolled onto its side in the crash, blocking the off-ramp, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation
