The City Council of San Luis Obispo approved the installation of pickleball courts at French Park during its meeting Tuesday evening.
The vote to pass the motion was unanimous.
French Park was selected as the best location to put the pickleball courts in because of its underutilized volleyball court.
Construction will soon begin to convert a basketball court at the park into three pickleball courts.
The volleyball court will be turned into a new 72 feet by 40 feet basketball area as a part of the French Park Improvement Project.
The courts will be run on a turn-based system similar to tennis court reservations, unless reserved through the city with a permit.
