Dozens of volunteers came to clean up the shoreline in Morro Bay as a part of a beach cleanup event Thursday morning.
Local restaurants SLO Brew and Libertine Brewing Company teamed up to take care of the beaches by picking up any garbage or recycling any plastics volunteers saw during the event.
About 15 people came to assist in the cleanup that weren’t members of the restaurants’ staffs, and 20 junior lifeguards helped beautify the dunes.
It was a way to show appreciation for the Central Coast and the love residents have for the area.
“We are so rooted in the activities and lifestyle that come with living on the Central Coast and loving where you are. So, in order to really appreciate where you are, you have to be taking care of your environment. So, we’re gung-ho on making sure this place stays as pristine as we could make it,” said Dylan Grant, digital marketing, music and events administrator for SLO Brew.
SLO Brew plans to continue hosting beach cleanups every three to four months. They are looking to partner with other non-profits to arrange these types of events.
