Authorities have identified the woman found dead in a Lompoc apartment where a fire broke out Saturday morning as Rubye Fritz, 76.
The fire started around 6:30 a.m. in a downstairs unit of the Kimi East Apartments on the 1000 block of East Cypress before spreading to an upstairs unit, according to Lompoc Fire officials.
Lompoc police said Fritz’s body was located in the unit where the fire started but authorities have not been able to say if the fire was the cause of her death. Foul play is not suspected.
The cause and manner of death are still pending. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
