County workers injured in crash in Cayucos

UPDATE (4:54 p.m.) – According to San Luis Obispo County Public Works, the county crew members who were injured in Tuesday’s crash were working on a water line.

They reportedly suffered serious injuries.


 

UPDATE (2:22 p.m.) – California Highway Patrol investigators at the scene say two county workers were taken to the hospital after they were struck by a car in Cayucos.

Officers say the 81-year-old male driver exited northbound Highway 1 onto Chaney Ave. and crashed into a construction zone where three San Luis Obispo County employees were doing road work.

Two of the workers were struck and one of them was reportedly pinned beneath the car. The third worker was not injured.

The driver was also taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. A passenger in the car was not hurt.

(1:59 p.m.) – Several pedestrians were injured when they were struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Cayucos.

It happened shortly after 1 p.m. on Chaney Ave. near Ocean Blvd.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
