(AP/KSBY) – Michael Jackson signs have been placed outside the Santa Maria courthouse on the 10th anniversary of the singer’s death.
Jackson’s estate is calling him a “gifted artist and extraordinary humanitarian” and fans are gathering to celebrate his memory.
The estate issued a statement to The Associated Press honoring Jackson on Tuesday’s anniversary, saying that after a decade he’s more important than ever.
Fans plan to gather at his home, his grave and his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to mark the moment he died from a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol.
Jackson left his mark on the Central Coast.
For years, he lived at Neverland Ranch near Los Olivos and in 2005, was tried in Santa Maria.
The trial lasted for four months before he was acquitted of all 10 charges including molestation.
The signs outside the Santa Maria courthouse include pictures of the singers along with words like “10 years without you June 25, 2019” and “My love for you… will live forever.”
Others paid tribute to Jackson outside one of the Neverland Ranch gates.
