Santa Maria police are investigating a shooting that put two victims in the hospital early Wednesday morning.
Just after midnight, police started receiving reports of gunshots heard in the alley of 900 South Russell Ave.
When officers arrived, they found two victims along with a crime scene.
Santa Maria police say the victims were approached in the alley by unknown suspects before being shot.
Both victims were transported to the hospital. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.
