A man who was spotted trying to break into an Orcutt home was arrested Thursday morning, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
It happened shortly before 7 a.m. in the area of Parkview Dr.
Investigators say the homeowner saw the man on her Ring camera and called authorities.
Sheriff’s officials say the man did not enter the home and was arrested as he tried to leave the area.
The suspect has been identified as Angel Ortiz, 18, of Orcutt.
Sheriff’s officials say he was found to be in possession of several pairs of sunglasses, coin purses, loose cash, and other items, some of which turned out to have been stolen from vehicles in the Silverleaf Dr. area overnight.
The sheriff’s office has returned some of the items to their rightful owners and asks any other Orcutt residents who believe they had items stolen overnight to contact the sheriff’s Santa Maria sub-station at (805) 934-6150.
Ortiz was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of attempted burglary and could face additional charges, according to the sheriff’s office.
