An event providing safety displays and driving tips is taking place at the Oceano Dunes this weekend.
California State Parks rangers and lifeguards will be on hand at Dunes Safety Day Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide off-highway vehicle and aquatic safety “in the dynamic dune environment.”
Those who attend can get questions answered from rangers and drive RC Jeeps on an off-road adventure course.
The event is free but the Oceano Dunes does have a day use fee of $5.
Dunes Safety Day comes a week after the fourth fatality this year at the State Vehicular Recreation Area and is taking place at the corral on the beach entrance to sand highway near bathroom D between posts 4 and 5.
