The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to reports of a single vehicle crash on Wednesday.
The crash happened on Highway 166 near Kirschenmann Road east of Cuyama.
Fire officials say a male driver crashed into a tree and was ejected from the vehicle.
He was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
