Fire officials seeking information on ATVs seen near Fourth of July fire east of Santa Maria

Fire officials are seeking more information on afire that sparked on the Fourth of July east of Santa Maria.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department says two blue side-by-side ATVs with an unknown brand or model were seen speeding away from the area around the time the fire started near the 1500 block of Foxen Canyon Road shortly before 1:30 p.m.

Fire officials say they believe the people operating the ATVs may have information on the cause of the fire that burned a total of 48.2 acres.

Fire officials released a picture of an ATV believed to be similar to the ones seen when the fire started.
