A Lompoc man is facing life behind bars for the murder of a man in Lompoc more than four years ago.
The Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office says Noe Herrera, 33, of Lompoc has pleaded guilty to one count of murder for the Jan. 20, 2015 death of Salvador Juarez Hernandez, 57, and a count of attempted murder for a separate assault on his own mother.
Hernandez’s body was found in some bushes on the 900 block of North H Street after Lompoc police say Herrara told detectives he may have killed someone there.
“The Lompoc Police Department did an excellent job investigating this case and seeking justice for the victims and their families,” Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley said in a press release. “Still, the defendant’s acts of extreme violence have had a devastating effect on the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Lompoc community.”
Herrera is scheduled to be sentenced July 24 to 24 years-to-life in prison.
