The patriarch and co-founder of Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company, Jim Dietenhofer, died from cancer at age 72.
Jim Dietenhofer’s son Jamie posted the news on Facebook Saturday.
He wrote, “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to announce that we lost my father today to cancer. James Dietenhofer was an amazing father, husband, grandfather, friend, coach, business partner, cheerleader, shoulder to cry on, fellow soldier and much much more.”
Jamie said his father passed away at home, surrounded by family and friends, which is what he wanted.
“We were all beyond lucky to have had him in our lives and we will never fill the void left by such a great human being,” said Jamie.
Los Olivos and Buellton honored Deitenhofer’s life by flying city flags at half staff.
Services will be held Saturday, July 27 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark’s Church in Los Olivos.
The reception will be at Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company in Buellton at about 4:30 p.m.
Jamie says instead of flowers, you can make a donation in his father Jim’s name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
