40th Santa Barbara County Sheriff custody deputy tests positive for COVID-19

Another Santa Barbara County Sheriff Custody Deputy has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a press release, sheriff's officials said a custody deputy was tested Thursday during a employee testing survey and got positive results back on Saturday.

The custody deputy is asymptomatic and wore a mask while at work, according to officials.

The employee was sent home as soon as the Sheriff's Office learned of the positive results.

This brings the total number of Sheriff’s Office Employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 to 40.

38 have recovered and returned to work.

Staff who are recovering at home include this custody deputy and one civilian staff member.
