The pandemic isn't stopping one non-profit organization from feeding the homeless community.

The Five Cities Homeless Coalition (5CHC) is kicking off its 9th annual "Empty Bowls" community luncheon fundraiser and making the event mobile.

Starting Saturday through September 26th, community members can pick up soup at three different locations every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

You can purchase tickets online and can pick up handcrafted bowls.

When you pick out your bowl, you will receive a coupon good for a bowl of soup from one of several participating restaurants.

Local restaurants and artisans helped make soup and bowls for the event.

This weekend's pickup spot is at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Arroyo Grande.

"We're really hoping that it will create a community spirit albeit somewhat distanced or virtually as opposed to everybody coming together," said Janna Nichols, the executive director for the 5Cities Homeless Coalition.

The next pickup opportunity will take place Saturday, Sept. 19th at the New Life Community Church in Pismo Beach.
