A nature-based film festival returned to San Luis Obispo Thursday night for the sixth year in a row.

SLO Brew Rock hosted the Backcountry Film Festival in partnership with the Winter Wildlands Alliance.

Organizers say the film festival celebrates the backcountry community and raises funds to support local nature programs.

The Backcountry Film Festival in San Luis Obispo donated all proceeds to the non-profit organization Outside Now.

"[Outside Now] is a nature connection program for kids and teens," said Lindsey Bolton who performed live music for the film festival. "They help foster deep nature connections with the community and the youth here."

Proceeds from the festival will stay in the San Luis Obispo community.
