Professional actor, George Walker, teaches Santa Maria Joint Unified High School district students the art of stage fighting for an upcoming performance.

Walker made a guest appearance at rehearsals for the district's performance of "West Side Story" on Monday.

During rehearsal, students practiced the famous "rumble" scene, where the Sharks and Jets partake in a fight.

Walker was brought in to teach the students how to safely portray knife fighting actions and how to make punching look real on stage.

Students from Righetti, Pioneer and Santa Maria High School are all playing parts in the musical.

The production will take place at the Pioneer Valley High School Performing Arts Center in mid-February.
