There will be new affordable apartments going up in Santa Maria.
The planning commission approved the Centennial Gardens Apartment development at their meeting Wednesday night.
There will be 160 affordable apartment units built on the corner of West Battles Road and South Depot Street.
The complex will span nearly nine acres and will consist of eight, three story apartment buildings.
