A man wanted in connection with a homicide in Arizona is under arrest in San Luis Obispo.
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's officials say Preston Scott Scruggs, 28, is a suspect in the death of a man whose body was found in a Tucson hotel room in January of 2017.
Last week, Tucson police contacted the sheriff's office asking for help interviewing and obtaining DNA evidence from Scruggs, who jail logs show has been in custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail on unrelated charges since last month and was a person of interest in the case.
Following the interview Wednesday, the sheriff’s office says Scruggs was arrested in connection with the 2017 homicide.
Another victim in the case confessed to the killing in January 2018, officials say.
Scruggs will reportedly serve the remainder of his sentence in San Luis Obispo County Jail before being turned over to authorities in Arizona.
