An arrest has been made in connection with multiple fires that broke out early Sunday morning in Lompoc.

The Lompoc Police Department says at around 12:12 a.m., firefighters responded to multiple fires on the northeast side of the city.

The fires were located on 2nd Street, Oak Avenue and E. Lemon/the North Avenue Alley and included several dumpsters, a vehicle and backyard shed, according to police.

Officers say they contacted Ismael Zaragoza Chavez, 39, in the area and found evidence indicating he was responsible for starting the fires.

Chavez was booked into the Lompoc jail on suspicion of arson.
