A man is facing charges in connection with a shooting in Santa Maria at the beginning of the week.

Santa Maria police say officers and detectives responded Monday at about 3 p.m. to the 600 block of North Palisades Drive to reports of the shooting and found a man had been shot multiple times.

Investigators were able to identify a suspect and say he was arrested at around 5 p.m. Wednesday during a traffic stop on the 900 block of W. Morrison Avenue.

Alberto Fidel Reyes, 38, of Santa Maria was booked into the Santa County Jail on a charge of attempted murder, police say. Bail was set at $1 million.

The victim is said to be in stable condition and the investigation is ongoing.
