Organizations in Arroyo Grande may now apply to obtain firework stand permits to sell "Safe and Sane" fireworks through the Five Cities Fire Authority.
A firework stand permit allows organizations to have a maximum of six firework stands to sell "Safe and Sane" fireworks within the city of Arroyo Grande, according to a press release from the Five Cities Fire Authority.
To qualify for a permit, applicants must have their governing board meetings inside the corporate limits of the city of Arroyo Grande and must have been established within the city for a minimum of two years, said the press release.
Interested organizations can apply at the Five Cities Fire Authority office, located at 140 Traffic Way in Arroyo Grande, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The deadline to file an application is April 15, according to the press release.
The Five Cities Fire Authority says it issues applications on a first-come-first-serve basis. New applicants currently not on the existing eligibility list will be placed at the end of the list and will not be eligible until 2023.
The city of Arroyo Grande will permit the sale of "Safe and Sane" fireworks from 12 noon on June 28 through 12 noon on July 5, said the Five Cities Fire Authority.
The "Safe and Sane" fireworks sold through these permits may only be discharged on July 4, according to the press release.
