Fire officials in Lompoc are investing an early-morning fire at a local business as a case of arson.
The Lompoc Fire Department responded to reports of smoke coming from Prasan Parmar. D.D.S Family Dentistry, located in a strip mall on the 1100 block of North H Street at about 6:11 a.m. Monday.
Fire officials say they found a fire in the office area of the building. The fire sprinkler system reportedly kept the flames from spreading.
The building sustained extensive damage, both from the fire and fire sprinkler system, fire officials report.
Investigators say while the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, it's being considered a case of arson after finding property that had been broken into at the business.
A sign up in the window says due to the fire, the office is closed for an undetermined amount of time.
