A brush fire was reported at 12:06 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 at San Anselmo on Saturday. The fire has been stopped at 2 acres and the highway remains open, according to Atascadero Fire & Emergency Services.

The fire burned on both sides of the highway, slowing traffic significantly, but crews did not have to shut down the highway.

Multiple agencies responded to the fire, including 36 firefighters, 10 fire engines, one water tender & four command officers, who were on the scene for hours along with ten fire engines and a water truck. Agencies involved in the response were Atascadero, Templeton, Paso Robles, Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire, and PG&E.

Atascadero Fire says the cause was vehicle-related, but the investigation is ongoing.

Earlier in the day, a quarter-acre fire was also reported on Highway 41 near Los Altos.
