Atascadero school holds donation drive for California fire victims

The Children's House Montessori School in Atascadero is helping collect donations for those impacted by the fires.

Community members can drop off donations during school hours from now until Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 12 p.m.

Organizers are hoping to fill a semi-truck with goods to help those being impacted by the Kincade Fire burning in Sonoma County.

"It makes us feel good because we know that we are helping people that have been through more terrifying fires than we have" says student Ian Mcpherron, "I hope that nobody has to go through this again."

People can bring any kind of non-perishable food items. Organizers say they are really in need of canned tuna and canned meat.

The truck will be leaving for Northern California on Tuesday.
