An Avila Beach man and his dog, “Wally,” are back home on the Central Coast after traveling across the country raising money for abused and neglected children.
Joe O'Connor says he traveled about 15,000 miles in all.
He and Wally raised $20,000 dollars for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), presenting the organization with the money on Friday.
O'Connor is one of 150 volunteer advocates for the non-profit.
CASA organizers say almost 90 percent of their revenue goes directly to program expenses.
