Two Black Lives Matter protests are taking place on the Central Coast Saturday.

A peaceful protest, led by Black and Brown youth, started at 1 p.m. in front of the San Luis Obispo de Tolosa Mission in downtown San Luis Obispo.

On the event's Facebook page, protesters were encouraged to wear masks and bring signs.

A second protest, also led by local youth, is being held in Pismo Beach.

This protest runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and starts at the entrance of the Pismo Pier.

Masks and signs are also encouraged at the event.

Both events are a call to action to end systematic racism and police brutality.

On the Facebook event page, organizers said instead of celebrating the Fourth of July holiday, they will continue to fight for justice by taking to the streets.
