A bookkeeper is accused of embezzling more than $5 million from two southern San Luis Obispo County agricultural businesses.

Ginger Lee Mankins, 55, was arrested on 14 felony charges after a nine-month investigation by the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office.

Mankins is accused of taking money from Rick Machado Livestock between May 2007 and February 2018. The company reportedly did not discover the theft until March 2018.

Mankins is also accused of stealing from B&D Farms between August 2012 and December 2019.

She has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to return to court on February 14.
