UPDATE: Crews stop forward progress of Bridge Fire at 8 acres

UPDATE (11:35 PM): Santa Barbara County Fire reports the Bridge Fire stands at eight acres. No injuries have been reported at this time and no structures were damaged.

Santa Barbara County confirmed the evacuation warning will end at midnight for the area of Cieneguitas Rd and Calle Caridad, west of Winther Way, and north of Foothill Rd in Santa Barbara.

UPDATE (9:05 PM): Evacuation warnings are in place for people living in the area of Cieneguitas Road and Calle Caridad. Homes north of Foothill Road in Santa Barbara were also asked to leave.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department and Santa Barbara Police Department are assisting with those evacuations.

Santa Barbara County Fire said the evacuation warnings will remain in effect until midnight.

A temporary shelter has been set up for individuals impacted by the Bridge Fire at The Wake Center, which is located at 300 N Turnpike Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93111.

Santa Barbara County has a site set up for small animals at the County Animal Services located at 5473 Overpass Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93111.

Large animal owners are asked to call 805-681-4332 for assistance.

Fire authorities said forward progress has stopped and the Bridge Fire is now 75% contained.

Firefighters said a combination of coordinated ground attack and air drops helped them gain control.


UPDATE (8:20 PM): Santa Barbara County Fire reports the Bridge Fire is now four acres and still has the potential to reach 10 acres.

Fire crews are using air attacks to make drops as others work on the ground to contain the blaze.

The agency said they are providing structure protection to houses located on Cieneguitas Road.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department and Santa Barbara Police Department are assisting firefighters with evacuations.


A vegetation fire broke out off Via Gaitero near Highway 154 and Cathedral Oaks in Santa Barbara.

First reports of the incident came in at 6:52 P.M.

Santa Barbara County Fire said the Bridge Fire is half an acre but has the potential for 10 acres.

Authorities report wind is pushing the fire downhill.

Santa Barbara City Fire is also assisting.
