The 200 block of Cottage Grove Ave. in Santa Barbara was shut down Monday morning because of a gas main break.
Firefighters were called to the area at about 10:50 a.m. and confirmed a two-inch gas main was broken and leaking.
At least 15 residents have been evacuated from the area and others are being asked to stay in their homes until Southern California Gas Company can make repairs.
The Santa Barbara City Fire Department expects the area to be cleared by 2:30 p.m.
No injuries have been reported.
