ORIGINAL STORY: The Santa Barbara County Fire Department says a homeless encampment sparked a vegetation fire in Goleta Monday afternoon.
The fire was reportedly burning in the area of Los Carneros in between southbound Highway 101 and the railroad tracks.
As of 3:45 p.m., fire officials say traffic was impacted and smoke was heavy in the area.
A helicopter was assisting fire crews on the ground.
Caltrans says one southbound lane is closed in the area. It's unknown when it will roepen.
No injuries have been reported.
