The Cal Poly Mustang Marching Band is invited to participate for the sixth time in the Southwest Airlines Chinese New Year Parade.
It's set for Saturday, Feb. 8, in San Francisco.
The Mustang Marching Band performed in the parade for the first time in 2014. It's been awarded first place in the adult marching bands category at each appearance.
Before the parade, the Mustang Band will continue the tradition of performing in front of the Ferry Building.
The Chinese New Year Parade began in the 1860s and has since grown to be the largest celebration of Asian culture outside of Asia.
The parade will celebrate the “Year of the Rat”. Over 1 million attendees are expected to line the parade route.
