A Cal Poly student from Camarillo died in a skateboarding accident on campus this week, the university announced Tuesday.
Cal Poly officials say first-year industrial engineering student Noah DeVico passed away Tuesday morning.
He reportedly lost control and fell off a motorized skateboard along Grand Avenue Monday around 1:45 p.m. Cal Poly says no vehicles were involved.
“Noah's sudden and tragic passing is devastating news to share. The university remains in contact with his family to offer our support, and our thoughts are with them and Noah's friends during this difficult time,” according to a message sent out to Cal Poly students, staff and faculty.
San Luis Obispo police assisted Cal Poly with the investigation into the accident.
Counseling services are being made available to students and staff.
