Cal Poly's 2020 Rose Float Committee has unveiled the design for its Rose Parade float.

Students at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly Pomona work together every year to design, build and decorate a float for the parade.

This will be the schools' 72nd entry into the parade.

The design is called "Aquatic Aspirations" and is meant to celebrate the parade theme of "The Power of Hope."

It depicts a submarine discovering an array of sea life making their home in the wreckage of a sunken ship.

"As Cal Poly students setting off on an exploration into our futures, we never know what treasures we might encounter as we aspire to achieve our goals," a post on the committee's Facebook page reads. "The spirit of discovery conveyed by our float embodies the idea that no matter what dreams you strive to achieve, hope can be a powerful guide to reaching your own treasure."

The 2020 Rose Parade will make its way through the streets of Pasadena on January 1.
