Caltrans said it is closing Highway 1 between Jamala Road and Santa Rosa Road Wednesday near Lompoc to install a bridge grinder as part of the Salipuedes Creek Bridge replacement project.

The highway will be closed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Drivers traveling in both directions can take a detour on State Route 246. Highway 1 will remain open for local traffic between Highway 101 and the State Route interchange and Jamala Road with access maintained to Jamala Beach County Park.

The $5 million project is expected to be completed by September 2021.
