A project to add carpool lanes on Highway 101 between Carpinteria and Santa Barbara is scheduled to begin on April 5.
Caltrans says 20 miles of carpool lanes will be added to accommodate the approximately 95,000 motorists who travel through the area each day.
Construction will begin on the evening of Sunday, April 5. The first phase of the project is expected to be complete in 2021.
