Caltrans District 5 is having a public meeting this week to talk about the Highway 101, Highway 135 bridge replacement project in Los Alamos.

The project proposes to replace the Highway 101 over-crossing in Los Alamos and will remove existing columns.

It will include new bridge rails, metal beam guardrails, and shoulder rumble strips along Highway 101. New sidewalks will also be added under Highway 101 from the Los Alamos Mobile Home Park to the intersection of Bell St. and Main St.

The meeting will be Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Los Alamos Valley Men's Club at 429 Leslie St.

Central Coast residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about the project and talk to Caltrans officials about any questions they have.

Construction is estimated to cost $14 million and is expected to begin in late 2020.
