The Santa Maria Chamber of Commerce is asking businesses to take a pledge as they slowly start to reopen.

Business owners can fill out a pledge that states they have reviewed state and local guidelines on reopening safely and they are doing everything they can to keep their employees and customers safe.

Once the pledge is signed, the chamber will send the business owner promotional materials to highlight their 'Safe and Open' status and the chamber will promote those businesses on social media and other platforms.

"I think most people know the common sense kinds of things we're going to need to do for a while so now it's really just getting through this process where the public health officials feel comfortable of letting more and more of the economy open up," said President Glenn Morris.

Morris added the chamber hopes businesses will take the pledge so employees and customers feel comfortable about returning.
