Children return to playgrounds across the Central Coast

Outdoor playgrounds across California can now open after months of being taped off.

On Wednesday, many parents and their children visited playgrounds across the Central Coast. Kids were excited to be able to swing and run around the park again.

Some parents call the reopening long overdue.

"I think it's awesome that the parks are reopening and I think, you know, it's great for the kid to be able to be outside and get some sunshine and fresh air," said Erin Hastings.

Hastings said she remains careful, making sure to stay six-feet apart from other children and sanitizing her and her children's hands.

Although parks are now able to re-open, public health officials are urging parents who do decide to take their children out to play to continue to follow social distancing guidelines.

That includes wearing a mask and limiting the visit to 30 minutes per-day along with otherextensive rules.
