Officers from the California Highway Patrol's Buellton office were in Vandenberg Village Wednesday looking for drivers not obeying laws in school zones.

Multiple officers were out at Alderbaran Avenue and Constellation Drive around noon as students were let out from their first day of classes at Buena Vista Elementary School.

Officers say nine people were cited for mainly stop sign and speeding violations. Of those nine, three drivers were given verbal warnings.

Thursday morning, officers were in Solvang but say no citations were handed out there.

Grover Beach police said their officers were also out Thursday morning at Grover Beach, Grover Heights and Fairgrove elementary schools.

CHP has the following reminder for drivers: "Drive safe always; and especially around your local schools!"
